Breeding dogs is an exciting experience. From the time a proper mate is found to the point that the puppies are born, it is crucial to take careful steps to make this successful.
Professional breeders do not breed frequently and will only do so when a pair is found to be healthy that will ensure the birth of healthy offspring.

Sometimes you may have to assist the mother while she is giving birth. Puppies are usually delivered head first in a diving position while some are born tail and hind legs first. Big breeds such as the Labrador Retriever produces large litters of small puppies and have fewer whelping problems than small breeds such as terriers, which produce smaller litters of large puppies. Also, breeds with a large head such as Bulldogs usually have more difficulty giving birth than do other breeds.

Please keep in mind that each year, millions of dogs and cats are killed in shelters because their temperaments have been ruined because of irresponsible, and/or uneducated, and/or unthinking owners. It is estimated that over 40% of the dogs in shelters are purebred dogs. Their owners did not move to a state that doesn’t take dogs, these dogs were surrendered to the shelter because there was a problem with the temperament of the dog, housebreaking problems, destructiveness, or aggressive type behavior.
